[#DIV28SUPER] Division 28 Candidate Recommendations for APA Presidential Election

Hello colleagues,

I am writing in response to the APA Presidential election, which opened on September 15th. Please look for your ballots in your email or click HERE to go to the general election page (which will provide you access to the ballot as well as with a list of all candidates and campaign information). The election is open from now until 11:59 p.m. EDT, October 29, 2021.

As is customary for our Division, the executive team wanted to provide you with some guidance regarding which candidates are most closely aligned with the values and goals of our Division.

This year one of the candidates, Dr. Mary Anne McCabe, is particularly strong; you may have seen an email from Dr. Bill Stoops about her earlier this week. Dr. McCabe has a very strong interest in psychopharmacology and substance use, as well as a strong scientific background. It is a somewhat unique position for our Division to have a candidate who fits so closely with our mission. For that reason, we believe she is the candidate who most closely aligns with our Divisional goals. However there are some additional candidates who also have very strong scientific backgrounds and/or some content overlap with the field of psychopharmacology and substance use. For ease of viewing, each of these candidates are listed for you below, you can click on their name to go directly to their candidate statement page.

Executive Committee Recommendation: Dr. Mary Anne McCabe, Ph.D.

Promising Alternate Candidates (in no specific order):

We hope this is helpful for you as you make your selections and encourage you to please vote for this important position.

Best,
Kelly
