[#DIV28M] position announcement - Moffitt Cancer Center

See below for a position announcement at the Moffitt Cancer Center. Sorry for any cross-posting!

I’m excited to announce that the Department of Health Outcomes and Behavior (HOB) at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida has an open faculty line, with tobacco research identified as a focus area for the search. Researchers at Moffitt’s Tobacco Research and Intervention Program (Tom Brandon, Dave Drobes, Vani Simmons, Dave Evans, and Christine Vinci) conduct human laboratory and applied/treatment studies on a wide range of topics.  The announcement follows:

Faculty Position (Open Rank) in Department of Health Outcomes and Behavior

Moffitt Cancer Center

The Department of Health Outcomes and Behavior (HOB) at Moffitt Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center on the campus of the University of South Florida, in Tampa, is seeking a faculty member (open rank) with research interests that complement or enhance our existing strengths in behavioral science and outcomes research.

The Department has 18 faculty engaged in research on tobacco use, cancer prevention and early detection, quality of life during and after cancer treatment, cancer-related health disparities, cancer caregivers, and health outcomes.  We welcome applicants with any relevant area of research, but we are particularly interested in expanding our research in (1) cancer care delivery or implementation science, to capitalize upon the resources available at the Center, and (2) tobacco research, to complement existing research in this area.

Resources for conducting research include the center’s integrated repository of clinical and research data on a large cohort of patients (Total Cancer Care® plus founding membership in the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network), diverse networks of community partners, a state-wide affiliate network of treatment providers, several research centers of excellence, and shared resources that include biostatistics, biomedical informatics, and survey methods.  Moreover, Moffitt is a leader in the development of clinical care pathways and innovative payment models that lend themselves to applied research.  Intra- and inter-disciplinary collaborations are encouraged and facilitated.

Successful candidates must hold a doctorate degree and have relevant research training and experience. We seek academic researchers who can contribute immediately, as evidenced by a history of peer-reviewed funding and publication.   Academic rank beyond that of Assistant Member/Assistant Professor will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.  The position is tenure-earning.  Salary and start-up funds are highly competitive.

Tampa was recently named an “urban gem” and the “Best City in the Southeast” by Money magazine.  Aside from the sunshine, beaches, and year-round outdoor recreation associated with the Gulf Coast of Florida, Tampa is a thriving metropolitan city with unique cultural attractions, low cost of living, and a high quality of life. Moffitt faculty members typically hold appointments in the Department of Oncologic Sciences or other departments at the university.  Moffitt-based faculty members focus their efforts on research, with minimal expectations for formal teaching.

Questions regarding the position should be directed to: David Drobes, Ph.D., Search Committee Chair, Department of Health Outcomes and Behavior (David.Drobes@moffitt.org).

To apply, visit our website Moffitt.org/Careers and refer to requisition number 29131 or click Health Outcomes and Behavior Faculty.  Review of applications will begin on February 1st and continue until position is filled.  Start date is flexible.
