Description

The Department of Health Education & Behavior, in the College of Health & Human Performance at the University of Florida (UF), seeks applications and nominations for two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank. UF is a dynamic Carnegie Foundation Research University with very high research activity and educates approximately 55,000 students annually. In 2018, UF was ranked in the top ten of public universities by US News and World Reports.

The Department has established research programs in behavioral aspects of obesity, physical activity, and nutrition; substance misuse; HIV/AIDS and sexual health behavior. The department is home to the Center for Behavioral Economic Health Research (CBEHR) and several research laboratories. A successful candidate will apply health-relevant theoretical frameworks; demonstrate strong quantitative or mixed methods research skills, experience with multidisciplinary collaboration, and implementation/dissemination of evidence-based programs to prevent negative health outcomes. Research programs with community and/or health equity foci are of particular interest. Candidates must have earned their doctorate in health behavior, health education, psychology, public health, nutrition, exercise science, or related fields.

Job duties include the following: (a) conduct an independent research program that complements department and college research initiatives, (b) participate in related collaborative research programs, (c) teach in the department's educational programs, and (d) mentor MS/PhD students.

Qualifications

Successful candidates at the assistant level must show strong promise of scholarly productivity, initial extramural funding or strong likelihood of funding with experience in teaching/mentoring preferred. Successful candidates at the associate level must have a nationally-recognized record of scholarly productivity including extramural funding, and successful teaching/mentoring. Successful candidates at the full level must have a distinguished, internationally-recognized record of scholarly productivity including substantial extramural funding and outstanding teaching/mentoring.

Candidates must have earned their doctorate in health behavior, health education, psychology, public health, nutrition, exercise science, or related fields.
