By way of this e-mail the Exec Comm wanted to make you aware of a NIH request for information (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-DA-23-019.html) related to a recent publication that championed the idea of adopting use of the concept of "pre-addiction" for use in public health messaging related to substance use disorder.

This is an interesting idea and the RFI highlights many different important areas to consider in thinking this through. Due to the complexity of this RFI, the Exec Committee of Division 28 has opted not to submit a response on behalf of the division, but rather encourage individual members to submit comments and ideas directly to NIH. Division leadership will also be reviewing and commenting on draft language on the topic being drafted by APA based on input from multiple stakeholders.
