I am currently on the Board of Convention Affairs of the APA. In that role, we are in charge of selecting and inviting plenary speakers.
These plenaries feature high-profile single speakers (psychologist or non-psychologist) that would appeal to a broad audience of psychologists (practice, policy, science). They need to be dynamic speakers. Despite that, we also cannot offer the speakers any honorarium; they generally only get economy travel, accommodation and waiver of registration.
I am having to prepare a list of potential speakers for our group to start considering so if you have some suggestions I would appreciate that. Please send me their name, institution, area of expertise, whether or not you know they are a good speaker and ideally a link so that we can find out more about the person. International speakers are discouraged in part due to the cost of airfare.
Please DO NOT contact the person - we are just in the early stages of creating a list of potential speakers for the group to review.
Many thanks,
Suzette Evans
