[#DIV28SUPER] Listserv: NIDA-NIAAA Frontiers in Addiction Research Mini-Convention, January 7-8, 2021 (Virtual) and Early Career Investigator Showcase

NIDA-NIAAA Frontiers in Addiction Research Mini-Convention

The National Institute on Drug Abuse [NIDA] and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism [NIAAA] invite you to the annual 2020 NIDA-NIAAA Frontiers in Addiction Research Mini-Convention*. The Mini-Convention is being held as a 2-day virtual meeting on January 7-8, 2021. The annual NIDA-NIAAA Mini-Convention provides a forum for mini-symposia of current topics in neuroscience and addiction research. The Mini-Convention also showcases research by premier early stage and junior investigators working in the fields of alcohol and substance abuse and addiction research through the Early Career Investigator Showcase [ECIS] symposium. The highlight of the Mini-Convention is the keynote address presented by the recipient of the annual Jacob P. Waletzky Memorial Award. The Jacob P. Waletzky Award is given to a young scientist (within 15 years of his/her Ph.D. or MD degree) whose independent research has led to significant conceptual and empirical contributions to the understanding of drug addiction. Two Mini-Symposia will be presented:

  1. Mapping the Addiction Neurocircuitry will focus on the latest developments in molecular, optical and imaging tools for analyzing and engineering functional neural circuits.
  2. AI-based Approaches to Addiction Pathophysiology and Novel Therapeutics will introduce novel AI-based approaches such as natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning/deep learning (ML/DL), and Bayesian networks (BN) that can be used to create big-data based phenotypic knowledgebases (kBs) and gain translational insight into the development of new treatments and biomarkers for addiction.

Registration is FREE and open to the public, but registration is required.
