Associate/Full Professor, University of Florida.  The Department of Health Education & Behavior, College of Health & Human Performance, seeks applications and nominations for a tenure-track faculty position at the Full or Associate Professor rank. UF is a dynamic Carnegie Foundation Research University with very high research activity and educates approximately 55,000 students annually.

 

We seek an established scholar with a distinguished research program that addresses health behavior problems common among community populations and contributes knowledge relevant to prevention and modification of health-related behavioral risk factors. The Department has established research programs in behavioral aspects of substance misuse; obesity, physical activity, and nutrition; HIV/AIDS, other STIs, and reproductive health. We seek applications from exceptional scholars in these areas who can provide leadership in research and educational initiatives, apply health-relevant theoretical frameworks such as behavioral economics, have strong quantitative or mixed methods research skills, are experienced with multidisciplinary collaboration, and use digital technologies for health promotion research and implementation/dissemination of evidence-based health behavior change programs.

 

Candidates must have earned their doctorate in health behavior, health education, or a related public health, social, or behavioral science field and have an extensive record of scholarly productivity, extramural funding, and successful mentoring. The successful candidate will: (a) conduct an independent research program that complements department and college research initiatives, (b) participate in related collaborative research programs, (c) teach in the department's educational programs, and (d) mentor MS/PhD students.  Review begins November 1st, 2018 and will continue until the position is filled. $5,000 scholarships to support graduate students and practicing, licensed psychologists to complete courses which are recommended under the APA model curriculum of didactic training in clinical psychopharmacology.

 

The purpose of The Beth N. Rom-Rymer Scholarships is to encourage talented psychologists, with recognized leadership skills, and with demonstrated passion for growing the field, to become prescribing psychologists, engaged in providing the highest caliber, comprehensive, integrated care to the most at-risk members of the community.

 

Preference will be given to those applicants who are committed to working with the underserved.

 

Approximately half of the scholarships are intended for pre-doctoral graduate students, and approximately half for practicing, licensed psychologists at all career levels. 

 

Up to nine $5,000 scholarships are available.

The Department of Health Education & Behavior (HEB) in the College of Health and Human Performance at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications and nominations for the position of department chair at the rank of tenured Associate Professor/Professor. The Department of Health Education & Behavior (http://heb.hhp.ufl.edu/) includes a diverse faculty of health promotion and health behavior specialists and currently enrolls approximately 640 undergraduate and 45 graduate students in residential and online educational programs. The Department has established research programs in behavioral aspects of substance misuse; obesity, physical activity, and nutrition; and HIV/AIDS, other sexually transmitted infections, and reproductive health. HEB faculty members are active research collaborators and contribute to research training in several university-wide centers, including the Center for Behavioral Economic Health Research, Center for Addiction Research and Education, and Southern HIV and Alcohol Research Consortium. This is a 12-month fulltime appointment with an effective start date of July 1, 2019.

 

The Chair serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the Department and reports to the Dean of the College. The Chair is responsible for strategic planning; academic leadership; curriculum development; fiscal management; personnel matters; working with the College’s Development officer; effective representation of the Department, College and University on campus, and to state, national and international communities.

 

Candidates must possess a vision of research and graduate education compatible with the goals of the Department, College, and University; a strong record of research funding and publications in refereed journals, collaborative research experience, and teaching excellence commensurate with appointment to the rank of Associate or full Professor with tenure; appropriate professional training, including a doctoral degree; a sustainable line of research inquiry that supplements and expands the department’s current research foci; ability to oversee and develop distance/online education; evidence of administrative and/or leadership experience, skills and abilities; managerial and communications skills; financial management expertise; ability and willingness to mentor early career faculty members and doctoral students; support shared governance; and a commitment to integrity, academic excellence, professional service and cultural diversity.

[#DIV28SUPER] Postdoctoral Associate at the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute

 

Position Summary:

Mikhail Koffarnus, Ph.D. at the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute is seeking a full-time postdoctoral associate to primarily work on a new NIAAA-funded study using remote alcohol monitoring to facilitate abstinence reinforcement with an underserved population. With this line of work, and in close collaboration with the Carilion Clinic Psychiatry department, we are developing a mobile treatment platform for alcohol use that uses mobile technology to facilitate treatment delivery. Responsibilities related to this project include ensuring that the protocol is executed correctly on a daily basis. Along with the PI, the candidate will be responsible for IRB-related issues, data analyses, manuscript publications, and conference presentations. S/he will also work with the research assistants in a supervisory role on the collection of data, issuing payments, and conducting intake and assessment sessions.

The postdoctoral associate will also be an integral member on a collaborative team broadly focused on research involving the intersection of behavioral economics and addiction processes. The postdoctoral associate will also be given the opportunity and support to develop supplementary studies and will be encouraged to publish and present their research findings.

 

Qualifications:

- PhD or MD/PhD in Psychology, Applied Behavioral Science, or a related specialty.
- Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to effectively work with and communicate with a wide range of constituents.
- Proficient in data processing and analysis.

- Experience with behavioral economics and/or abstinence reinforcement interventions is a plus.
