The Behavioral Neuropharmacology Laboratory is seeking an individual to fill a full-time laboratory technician position. This applicant will take a key role in projects using sophisticated behavioral approaches in rats. Projects range from neuroinflammation induced by methamphetamine self-administration and reinstatement, factors affecting the use and misuse of nicotine and alcohol, and novel pharmacological approaches to reversing non-opioid anesthetics. Job Summary: Duties include basic laboratory management and maintenance, contribute to the daily operation of the lab, and conduct research as directed. This position requires rat handling and injections with an opportunity to learn small animal surgeries. The successful candidate will be expected to keep good records of experiments, results, etc. and must be able to work some weekends, scheduled in advance. 

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have an Associate's degree in neuroscience, biology, biological psychology, pharmacology, or related field, one year of research lab experience or equivalency, and demonstrable ability to work with rodents. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent organizational and communication (oral and written) skills as well as an ability to learn new hands-on procedures and to work effectively in a team environment.  

Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, biology, biological psychology, pharmacology, or related field. Experience conducting behavioral studies. Technical experience with small animal surgeries. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software program skills and experience with programming languages (Med-State, R, or Python) is a plus.
