Apply for the APAGS Convention Grant!

APAGS will award thirty graduate students a $125 grant to provide financial assistance to attend the APA 2020 virtual convention. Some examples of financial assistance include childcare, technology to increase internet speed, registration coverage, securing a quiet place to attend sessions, etc. This grant will support efforts to increase the membership and participation of graduate students at the virtual APA Convention.

Eligibility:

APAGS scholarships are available to graduate student members of APAGS who are enrolled at least halftime as a student in good standing at a regionally accredited university. If you are a student affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and are in a masters or doctoral program, you are automatically a member of APAGS. Undergraduates are not eligible for these scholarships, nor are APAGS officers, subcommittee, or task force chairs. Priority for this grant will be given to applicants who personally identify as a student from an unrepresented group, are first-time attendees, or are presenting at this year's convention.

How to apply:

Please combine all of the following items into one PDF file and save the file as your last name followed by first name (e.g., "Smith Jane.pdf"). We will not accept Word documents.

Each application must include all of the following materials:

  • Letter of interest answering the following questions in no more than 250-500 words:
    • How does participating in the virtual convention align with your educational and professional goals?
    • How do you plan to use the funds, if awarded? Please answer this in a bullet-point format
    • How will you utilize the knowledge obtained at convention and apply it to your psychological community?
  • Proof of acceptance to present (if applicable) and payment of Convention registration fee.
  • Please submit materials via our submission portal

Requirements for Award Recipients:

Provide a 1-2 paragraph testimonial about your experience attending the virtual Convention, something interesting that you learned, or a discussion about a particular session you found interesting that may be used in a blog post (http://www.gradpsychblog.org/) or in other APAGS materials.

The deadline to apply is 12:00 PM EST, Friday, July 31st, 2020.
