Postdoctoral Position in Behavioral Pharmacology / Basic Neuroscience

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Behavioral Biology Program at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School to study the effects of abused drugs and potential pharmacotherapies for substance use disorder. Current projects include: 1) examining the role of pharmacological history in behavioral responses to drugs of abuse, 2) evaluating the capacity of candidate medications to selectively disrupt self-administration of abused drugs, 3) characterizing the in vivo pharmacology of novel compounds.

 

Requirements:

• The ideal candidate will be a recent Ph.D. with a relevant background in Psychology, Pharmacology, Neuroscience, or Physiology.

• Candidates who have a successful track record of publishing will be given priority.

 

The selected candidate will be proposed for academic appointment as a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at HMS. The initial appointment will be for two years with the possibility of extension pending satisfactory performance, research progress, and the availability of funding. Submission of career development and other grant funding applications during the appointment is encouraged and will be supported. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, laboratory experience, and institutional guidelines. Qualified women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
