[#DIV28SUPER]

Congress narrowly avoided a government shutdown this month by passing a Continuing Resolution. However, action is needed now to protect federal discretionary programs and raise the debt limit. Congress has only a few working days until November 3, when the debt limit must be raised, and until December 11, when the Continuing Resolution expires.

Contact your federal representatives and urge them to resume work on Fiscal Year 2016 funding. Remind Congress they must at last do away with the budget caps and sequestration that have hamstrung congressional action on the budget. These shortsighted policies continue to inflict harm on research and programs across the Department of Health and Human Services (including at the National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), National Science Foundation, Department of Education, and Department of Justice. The research and programs funded by these agencies represent high priorities for psychology.

 Take Action
