UVM COM Faculty Position
Addiction Psychiatry

The University of Vermont College of Medicine and the University of
Vermont Medical Center are seeking a full-time faculty member at the
Assistant or Associate Professor level on the clinical scholar pathway
to expand substance abuse treatment and training at the University of
Vermont.

This attending psychiatrist will join an existing team of licensed
alcohol and drug counselors, a nurse, and a psychiatrist to treat an
array of substance use disorders in programs ranging from intensive
outpatient care to maintenance group therapy. He or she will provide
leadership for an innovative program designed to transition opioid
users in specialty clinics to office-based primary care.

The University of Vermont College of Medicine Psychiatry Service hosts
medical students on clerkships and electives, sponsors a residency in
psychiatry, and sponsors a fellowship in child psychiatry. There is a
highly developed research program in substance use disorders,
including alcohol, tobacco, cocaine, and opioids. This faculty member
will be a key participant in the education of trainees at several
levels.

The selected candidate will demonstrate the training and expertise to
provide direct patient care, collaborate with other professional
disciplines, and work with referring agencies and providers. In
addition, he or she will be responsible for supervision and teaching
of house officers, medical students, and other staff. An appreciation
of the importance of and satisfaction from performing these critical
functions and an ability to work collaboratively are essential.

Applicants must have a medical degree and be board certified
(preferably) or board eligible in psychiatry. Formal addiction
training or suitable experience is very desirable.
