[DIV28SUPER] BMJ: How the FDA forgot the evidence: the case of donepezil 23 mg

Jack Wiggins (on RXP-Psychologists) reposted an excerpt by ken pope (ken at kenpope.com) of a BMJ article, URL below

http://www.bmj.com/content/344/bmj.e1086

"... In the first of a new occasional series highlighting the exaggerations, distortions, and selective reporting that make some news stories, advertising, and medical journal articles "not so," Lisa M Schwartz and Steven Woloshin challenge the claims made for the new 23 mg dose of donepezil ..."

An article raking over the approval of aricept that may be of interest to this list.

FDA is an underfunded regulatory agency with a complex mission.

We can expect that the protection and improvement of public health improves with time, as an upward trajectory is what one might expect from an agency born of mandates arising from public health disasters.

Strive for the best as we all need an optimally functioning agency with dedicated professionals doing the right thing
