Project Manager, Addiction Research, University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine

There is an opening for a project manager position in addiction research at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine.  The project manager will oversee NIH-funded behavioral studies of addiction conducted at The USC-Health, Emotion, & Addiction Laboratory (USC-HEAL; Adam Leventhal, Ph.D., Director).  One study examines the effects of nicotine withdrawal on mood and cognitive performance among cigarette smokers.  Another study examines the acute effects of an oral stimulant drug on mood and cognitive performance among young adults.  The project manager will also be involved in additional survey-based studies of substance use and other health-damaging behaviors.  Candidates should have a masters degree or higher in psychology, behavioral science, health behavior studies, human behavioral pharmacology, public health, or a related field.  Applicants should have strong empirical research training, excellent organizational skills, ability to use computer data analysis programs, knowledge of experimental research methods, and considerable previous experience working on behavioral research studies (7+ years experience).   Duties involve: managing day-to-day research operations, overseeing research databases, supervising and training junior staff, executing administrative research tasks, managing grant budgets, coordinating schedules of research staff and participants, and face-to-face interaction with participants in several capacities (e.g., administering experimental protocols, conducting psychiatric interviews, obtaining informed consent, recruiting).  In addition to managing USC-HEAL studies, the position provides opportunities to participate in publishing, grant writing, and career development activities.  The position is full time and requires 5 days/wk attendance at our facilities on the USC Health Sciences Campus in Los Angeles, CA.  Salary range is $50-65K annually depending on experience and includes full USC staff benefits.  Additional information about USC-HEAL can be found at http://hsc.usc.edu/~amlevent/.  Interested candidates should send an inquiry email and CV to: Jodie Greenberg, M.A., jbgreenb@usc.edu, and Adam Leventhal, adam.leventhal@usc.edu.
