Tenure-track Assistant Professor – Neuroscience Scholar Program
  
The Department of Neuroscience at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invites applications for its Neuroscience Scholar program. The successful Scholar will be appointed as a tenure-track Assistant Professor and will benefit from a robust mentoring and professional development program designed to assist the Scholar establish a successful, independent research program.  Areas of research of particular interest include neurodevelopment and its disorders, neuroimmune biology, neurodegeneration, stroke, brain injury, and addiction sciences. The ideal Scholar will have a PhD and/or MD degree and be an active postdoctoral trainee with no more than five years of postdoctoral research experience at the time of application. The Department of Neuroscience values diversity and inclusion, and applicants from groups underrepresented in biomedical research are strongly encouraged to apply.

The successful MUSC Neuroscience Scholar will benefit from a faculty mentoring- and professional development-intensive program in a highly ranked basic neuroscience department comprising nearly $18M in annual extramural funding. The research-oriented department also comprises a successful PhD program, two NIH-funded T32 training grants, and two NIH P50 Center grants.

MUSC is located in the beautiful, coastal city of Charleston, SC – a city known for its rich history, arts and culture, higher education, architecture, beaches, top-rated restaurants, and diversity. Charleston receives perennial honors as one of the most desirable place to visit and live.
