[#DIV28SUPER] Seeking Volunteers for APA Division 28 Executive Committee Positions

Greetings Division 28 Colleagues,

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and that 2021 is starting off well for you. I am writing with two exciting opportunities for you to join the Division 28 Executive Committee.  We are currently recruiting for Fellows Chair and Student Representative positions.  Both terms would be for 3 years (2021-2023) and would entail participation in 1-hr monthly phone calls as well as the job-specific information outlined below.

Benefits to You: This is a great way to grow your CV, contribute meaningfully to the scientific community, and learn scientific leadership skills. Division 28 provides strong networking opportunities with scientists at every stage of the career spectrum and is a good springboard for additional scientific leadership roles. In particular, our division is highly supportive of early career members and have many on our executive committee, which provides a wonderful way to advance your career. We also have several new initiatives planned this year that we believe will energize our divisional members and we value your contribution and input.

Fellows Chair: Requirements: Ideally mid-career or later but would consider enthusiastic early-career members. Being a current Fellow of APA is preferred but not required. Role: Assist prospective Fellow candidates with the application process, which includes securing approval from executive committee members for nomination, obtaining letters of support, and communicating with the APA Fellows Board as needed.  Information about the application process is here: https://www.apa.org/members/your-membership/fellows . The anticipated monthly time-requirement would be 1-3 hours (including monthly calls).

Student Representative: Requirements: Be actively enrolled as a graduate student in the area of psychopharmacology and substance abuse. Role: Provide consult to the executive committee regarding student perspective of various initiatives, contribute to student column in the Division newsletter (published thrice-yearly). The anticipated monthly time-requirement would be 1-2 hours (including monthly calls).

Please email me at Kdunn9@jhmi.edu if you are interested in a position, and provide me with a brief statement of interest and your CV. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.

Warm regards and Happy 2021!
Kelly Dunn
