[#DIV28SUPER] Postdoctoral Training in Opioid Research, Johns Hopkins University

Postdoctoral Fellow Position Available:

Come work with Dr Kelly Dunn, Ph.D., MBA on randomized trials related to opioid use disorder within the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit (BPRU) (https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/psychiatry/research/BPRU/). The BPRU is a leader in examining the effects of substances in people, training postdoctoral fellows in the conduct of human laboratory as well as randomized controlled trial designs.  Dr Dunn is seeking postdoctoral support for several current trials, including a laboratory evaluation of opioid withdrawal expression and mechanisms, residential and outpatient examinations of novel medications for opioid use disorder, and a multi-site trial examination of a novel intervention for comorbid pain and opioid use. More information about Dr. Dunn's ongoing trials is available here: www.marylandopioidresearch.com/

Postdoctoral fellows are financially supported for 2-3 years by a prestigious T32 training award that has been in place for more than 40 years.  BPRU is a happy and collaborative environment with structured mentoring opportunities.  We maintain postdoctoral cohorts of 8-16 fellows annually, which allows trainees to develop and build strong peer networks that are maintained throughout their career.  Job responsibilities include training in the management and supervision of trial conduct, data analyses, manuscript preparation and submission, and presenting at national conferences.  Trainees from our program are highly successful, leaving here to be hired by the FDA, DEA, research universities, teaching colleges, industry, and private businesses.  If you want to make an impact on persons with opioid use disorder, this is the place. Come work and train with us today!

Interested individuals should send a statement of interest and CV to Dr. Kelly Dunn at kdunn9@jhmi.edu. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

[#DIV28SUPER] Neurocognitive mechanisms of structural racism virtual meeting, May 17-19, 2022

 Neurocognitive Mechanisms of Structural Racism

TACWelcome

Welcome to the ‘Neurocognitive Mechanisms of Structural Racism’ Virtual Meeting, sponsored by the Racial Equity Initiative at the National Institute of Drug Abuse.

The ‘Neurocognitive Mechanisms of Structural Racism’ meeting will bring together a group of interdisciplinary researchers to unpack the effects of structural racism on neurocognition, as it relates to substance use and mental health, and to discuss how to consider and contextualize structural racism in developing research studies.

This three-day meeting will include in-depth discussions about the roots of structural racism and its impacts on neuroscience and psychiatry and will provide researchers avenues and tools to address systemic and structural oppression within their own research environments and portfolios.

The objective of this meeting is to provide cognitive neuroscience researchers with knowledge and awareness about the impacts of structural racism on the study of the human brain, and how to be anti-racist as a neuroscientist. The meeting will provide researchers with tools to contextualize study design and statistical analyses with respect to social determinants of health. In addition, participants will discuss the need to incorporate perspectives from community stakeholders, epidemiology, intervention science, sociology, and bioethics into cognitive neuroscience.
