The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) posted a draft report on Pharmacologic and Nonpharmacologic Treatments for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: An Update of the Evidence Base for the PTSD Trials Standardized Data Repository. The draft report is available for review and public comment until March 28, 2023. We encourage you to consider submitting comments directly to AHRQ!

Please join APA Division 28 in congratulating the winners of the 2023 APA Div 28 awards.

Outstanding Dissertation Award nominations are evaluated on the overall scientific merit of the dissertation project and quality of the dissertation document, completed within the past 2 years. The 2023 winner is C. Austin Zamarripa, Ph.D.

Young Psychopharmacologist Award nominations are evaluated on the overall body of accomplishments during the early career stage (within 10 years of doctoral degree), as indicated by activity and engagement in the scientific research enterprise, as well as the investigator’s potential to continue to make impactful and substantive contributions. The 2023 winner is Tory Spindle, Ph.D.

MED Associates Brady-Schuster Award nominations are evaluated on a sustained record (at least 15 years past doctoral degree) of conducting and publishing high quality scientific research, with particular emphasis on a body of work that has had a lasting impact. The 2023 winner is Adam M. Leventhal, Ph.D.

[#DIV28SUPER] Postdoctoral Position open with JHU Maryland Opioid Research team

The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine invites applications for postdoctoral research fellowships at the Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit (BPRU) within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Fellows receive research training in the clinical pharmacology of substance use including human laboratory studies and clinical treatment trials. Fellows benefit from experienced faculty and a NIDA-funded T32 training grant with a productive 40-year history and over 130 graduates. Fellows work closely with faculty mentors to gain practical research experience and develop as productive independent scholars.

Areas of interest: This postdoctoral fellow will work with Drs Kelly Dunn and Andrew Huhn in the area of opioid use disorder. Fellows will have the opportunity to gain experience in clinical trials, human laboratory drug administration studies, and treatment outcomes studies. Research in the Dunn and Huhn labs cover a broad range of topics, including the treatment of opioid use disorder, opioid withdrawal, sleep, emotional processes, chronic and acute pain, and abuse liability of opioids and other medications. These studies employ diverse methodology including ecological momentary assessments, sleep electroencephalography (EEG), ambulatory monitoring of daily activity and sleep, quantitative sensory testing of pain, genetics, and biological assays of stress and inflammation. Prospective candidates should have a strong interest in medication studies and/or utilizing advanced statistical analyses (e.g., machine learning). The selected candidate would also have the opportunity to collaborate with multiple BPRU faculty across different projects.

Eligibility: Eligible applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and have completed doctoral degree requirements (e.g., PhD, MD, DO, PsyD) prior to starting at BPRU. Many backgrounds are appropriate, including experimental or clinical psychology, pharmacology, psychiatry or other medicine, neuroscience, nursing, public health, and social work. Prior experience with human or nonhuman research is appropriate. The BPRU is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our research program. Applications from persons with disabilities, protected veterans, and persons underrepresented in science are strongly encouraged.
